Heroes' Journeys: Using Mythic Structures to Improve Your Fiction and Screenwriting

A six-week workshop for writers

Fall 2013
Glendale / Pasadena area

Over six two-hour sessions, we'll use a mix of guided exercises, free-writing, and discussions to generate and explore new story material, and then help to shape that material into a "hero's journey," the structure that underlies so many of the stories of Western Civilization.

The workshop will include topics from Joseph Campbell's The Hero with a Thousand Faces, Christopher Vogler's The Writer's Journey, and Blake Snyder's Save the Cat—but its focus will be on helping you to generate and then shape your own writing.

The course should benefit any writer working in a storytelling medium, but will focus mainly on fiction and screenwriting.
